Frangi Chats To…Johnny Ruffo

Johnny Ruffo appeared on X-Factor 2011, and despite placing third in the series, has only continued to grow in fame. He was lucky enough to open for One Direction on their 2012 tour, can now be seen on Channel Seven’s Home and Away, and his newest single “Untouchable” was released last month.

I got to chat to Johnny about his new single, his past and future, and which fictional characters he would dine with if given the chance.

Your newest single, “Untouchable” has recently been released. What was the inspiration behind it, and what was it like working on the video?

‘Untouchable’ is about envisaging the perfect girl and bringing her to life, it describes things that are a one of a kind, and also things that are extremely elegant but at the same time leaves a feel of mystery about her, this allows people to create their own perfect girl in their mind as every body has different desires!

Working on the video was a lot of fun as it enabled us to put to screen what we thought the song represented, this is the reason that we never fully reveal the hero girl in the shoot, it allows viewers to piece the puzzle together and create their own perfect girl that in some ways is ‘untouchable’.

If you could go back in time and give your past-self advice before beginning the X-Factor journey, what would it be?

I would tell myself to continue to work hard and maintain a level head, because you can lose it all as quick as you gained it.

What was it like opening for One Direction on their Up All Night Australian tour?

Opening for one direction was an incredible experience and a lot of fun, and who knows maybe ill support them again one day.

Since appearing on X Factor, you’ve opened for One Direction, The Backstreet Boys/New Kids On The Block, been the runner up in the Cleo Bachelor of the Year comp, competed in Dancing With The stars, appeared on Home and Away…Out of everything you’ve done in the past year and a half, what has been the most surreal?

Reading all that, I don’t think I can pick one, it has been an amazing 2 years and my entire life sometimes seems a little surreal.

What has working on Home and Away been like? Did you ever consider an acting career before you were given this opportunity?

Working on home and away has been a very eye opening experience, I feel as though I’ve learnt so much from being on the show, and to be a part of something that has been running 25 years is an honour, I’ve always wanted to be involved in acting and this has been the perfect opportunity.

Where would you like to see yourself this time next year?

Possibly releasing music around the world and touring, and who knows maybe even in a movie 🙂

If you could have a dinner party with five fictional characters, who would they be?

Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Wonder Woman and Sleeping Beauty

What band/singer are you most likely to be a crazy fan for?

Well it would be Michael Jackson but he is no longer here, so I would have to say Justin Timberlake.

Untouchable is available to download now on iTunes.
