Daily Motivation: The Quiet Place

Sometimes in life, everything just gets a bit overwhelming. There’s so much to do, not only in our real life, but especially in our virtual one. We feel like we have to stay so up to date with facebook, twitter, tumblr, instagram, emails…the list goes on and on and on. Our minds get so filled with all this stuff, that we forget that that’s all it is…stuff. It’s not important. The world won’t end if we decide to log off and ignore our @replies and comments and notifications for a little while, even if we feel it will.

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed we just want to slam on the breaks and just pause for a while. In my Current Favourite Book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower it says:
“I don’t know if you’ve ever felt like that. that you wanted to sleep for a thousand years. Or just not exist. Or just not be aware that you do exist. Or something like that”

And I don’t know if you’ve ever felt like that, but I know I have. Sometimes you just need to go into a Time Out from the world, and that’s where The Quiet Place Project steps in. The Quiet Place is just that, a Quiet Place away from the rest of the internet, and it reminds us that we get so worked up and obsessed over things that are just…things. The QPP also contains The Thoughts Room which basically consists of a status bar in which you can write everything that has been consuming your mind. The best part? As you write, it disappears into tiny explosions, never to be seen or judged. And you feel so good, just getting it out there, and watching it disappear takes a weight off your shoulders.

When I’m stressed, The Quiet Place is one of my favourite places to visit, and if you get worked up like me, it should be one of your favourite places too.
