My Obsessions Are Taking Over My Life

We’re studying Prejudice at the moment in english, and our assessment task is a ‘prejudice portfolio’. We have to write a short story based on a form of discrimination, write an essay on To Kill A Mockingbird, and do an analysis on another text that has prejudicial themes. Being as cool as I am, I couldn’t just do any old text. I’m so over racism, and I’ve had enough relgious prejudice in elective history to last me a lifetime, so I had to think outside the box. I was thinking and thinking, trying to come up with something to do, and all of a sudden it hit me: Harry Potter. As I’m kind of obsessed with it at the moment, thoughts of wanting to do it for some project or another had been filling my mind, but I never thought I’d find something relevent to actually use it for. But it’s so obvious, Voldy and the Death Eaters hate all the mudbloods and the muggles, Umbridge hates the half-breeds, the Dursely’s hate anything magical…evidence of discrimination and prejudice is everywhere
Now I get to read the books and watch the movies and call it homework. Exciting, no? Unfortunately, the analysis is a maximum of four-hundred words, and my introduction is over one hundred, so saying everything I want to in the limit is going to be a difficult task, but the end result will be worth it.
Seriously, screw To Kill A Mockingbird, Harry Potter should be put on the booklist for us to study in class. All seven books, too, not just one of them, and compulsory movie-bashing too. That way it would take up lots and lots of time. Golly I’d be a great teacher. Actually, I’d be a great education minister. I’m always coming up with plans for a reformed education system (no sport/pe, basic maths, lots of english, magazine studies, and well, Harry Potter), everyone would love me šŸ˜›
