Pretty By A Pro

If you know me personally, you know I suck at the whole beauty thing. I don’t wear make-up (mainly because I’m scared of being a cake-face. Waaay too many of those in the playground for my liking), and when it comes to different products, I’m pretty clueless. I figured I couldn’t be the only teenager out there with zero knowledge when it comes to all things prettifying (…maybe I am. Well this just got awkward :P) so I asked the ever so lovely Zoe, of Dolly beauty-writing fame to give some advice.

Beauty by digits…
0. The number of times you should ever doubt yourselves
1. The number of tablespoon(s) worth of sunscreen you should apply to your faces every day (and note, it’s best to do so after your daily moisturiser)
2. The number of pore strips you should use in a week for both t-zone conjestion and entertainment value (whoever says it isn’t fun in a gross way is lying!)
3. The number of fingers-distance from your nose you should place blush on your cheeks
4. The number of times a Beauty Writer thinks about her nails on a daily basis and double for hair
5. The number of beauty products I suggest you try because they make life easier, making room for things like fun more possible:
– Sally Hansen’s Kwik Off (I HATE removing nail polish – this acetone-laden sponge is a genie)
– Talcum Powder (When rubbed in well, anyone can use this as an oily hair aid)
– L’Oreal Paris’ Renewal Lash Serum (lashes actually grow longer and thicker by eighty per cent, for serious!)
– Apivita Lip Care (it has actually single-handedly cured my change-of-season flaky chaps)
– DeMert Nail Enamel Dryer (anything to stop my fumble fingers smudging is welcome)

She also requested I answer three questions with this post, so here we go:
Whatโ€™s one thing you’d change about DOLLY?
Less Justin Bieber, definitely ๐Ÿ˜›
But really, this is hard.Maybe have more like, ‘behind the scenes’ things. I like how with the eds letter there’s now more stuff on the team and what’s been happening at DollyHQ, so maybe a bit more like that. Like how the mag was made.
What’s your favourite beauty product and why?
At the moment, as lame as it sounds, it’s my trusty Nivea Repair and Protect lipbalm. Roaccutane causes my lips to crack to the point of bleeding, but this wonderful little product makes them as healthy as ever. I have about five in various bags and spots around the house, because if I find myself without  one I freak out and my lips dry out…it’s not a pleasant experience.
What’s the funniest thing you’ve heard this week?
On Monday, I had the public speaking comp and Sir Miffington Quack Quack was there. Crazy things are said when you put both of us in the same room together, so there were bound to be major laughs. She began, and ended, her speech with “You were brilliant Rose, and you know what, so was I.”, which is a quote from Dr Who. The way she presented it was just so funny, and just so Quack that it had me in silent hysterics, and it makes me giggle every time I think about it. Also, our singing of AVPM songs and telling of the hambush joke were quite amusing too.

A million thanks to Zoe for helping out, she blogs over at To The Glamour Born, you should definitely go and read ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I don't wear make up cause I don't get up early enough in the morning to do so. And it's so easy to mess up (especially with groggy morning mindset). I've never used a pore strip either hmmmIt's really informative post! I like it ๐Ÿ™‚
