This Is What I Do In My Spare Time

Today is the twelth anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. So many wonderful lives were lost on that fateful day, but then again, it also was the defeat of  Voldemort, so it’s not all bad news. RIP to all the epic characters who died to protect the wizarding world. Many tears will be shed by me watching your brave sacrifice when the movies are released.
To mark this, today was International Harry Potter Status day. It got us in a HP-ish mood, so Toongen, ‘Kerri’ from Kerri and Eva, Charlie from Jonas Australia and I all jumped on the Jonas Australia Forums and had quite possibly the most amazing conversation ever.
It started with harmless chatter about our favourite books, but then someone (ok, it was me) brought up the topic of sex at Hogwarts), and then the conversation got really interesting.

The above is only three messages of many from the night, and possibly some of the most normal. It has been a lot of fun, and a great way to commemorate this sacred day. We’ve just decided since there’s four of us, and there were four marauders, that we should each get nicknamed one of them. I’m Prongs, because it was out of him or Wormtail, and who wants to be the betrayer? Sorry Toong 😛
Don’t you just love conversations with epic people who share your interests (and I’ve discovered, discussing the more perverted side of Harry Potter)? This is why I love the internet.
The convo has made me reallyreallyreally want the Deathly Hallows movies though. Especially Part Two. Damn having to wait until July next year. Those tent scenes are going to be worth the wait…

  1. Sob sob. I'll miss you Snape. The epilogue seems sort of… empty though. It's hard to describe. Like everything is well, and it's not * cosy* anymore. I can't think of a better word. I wonder if Hogwarts teaches other stuff like what they teach at high schools these days?

  2. 🙂 This post made me laugh.I have to do an assignment for media studies about fandom and the formation of para-social relationships.I really wanted to do Harry Potter. But now I am not so sure. I was thinking of doing it on Neytiri from Avatar, or how girls are obsessed with Edward Cullen. But I just don't know.Do you know of any Harry Potter fan sites?:)I'm such a bad procrastinator.:(
