Frangipani Princess Turns Three

So today is a very special day in the life of Frangipani Princess. It marks three years since I first started this blog. Woah. The past three years have gone so quickly, it feels like just yesterday I was sitting in front of my computer deciding what to write for my first post, and now here I am, three years later, writing my nine hundred and somethingth post. I’ve gone from a thirteen year old year seven student, with big dreams and bad grammar, to a sixteen year old year ten student, having achieved some of the dreams I never thought possible, with grammar that is, well, a lot better.
A lot has changed in three years. When I started this blog, I had only just become friends with Toong, was not talking to quackie after a massive fight which would continue for another eight months, I hadn’t heard of the Jonas Brothers, and, shockingly, thought Disney was for little kids. My how things change.
Back then, I didn’t know how long I would stick with this. I thought it would be a cool idea, but I had no idea what to write about, how to get people to read my blog, or even how long it would take before I got bored of it. Eventually, I discovered writing about what I loved (aka magazines and teen stars, with a spattering of rants and friends) is what would work best for me, and get readers to continue to come back.
And I really do appreciate you continuing to come back. Without you, this blog would be nothing. Your comments and emails make my day (even when they say I need to get a life/boyfriend for finding snape attractive hahaha. Let me explain, in the book he’s only in his early thirties, and there’s just…something about him. It’s not like a Nick Jonas attraction or anything, he’s just epic) and because of you spreading the word, telling your friends and linking me on your page, I have now had nearly 41000 hits in two and a half years (I didn’t start a counter until six months in). I now receive around one hundred hits a day, which although isn’t that many in the grand scheme of things, for a teenage blogger who once had to beg people to read her site, I’m very proud of it.
I owe a lot of it to the feature (a year ago now!) in DOLLY magazine, as that’s how most of you found out about me, so I want to say a massive thankyou to not only the amazing team there, but also to you guys, who, a year later, are still returning.
I don’t know what the future holds for Frangipani Princess. I’ve had three amazing years on here, and hopefully have (at least) another three. This time in three years, I’ll be hopefully a term into a communications/law degree at Sydney University (doing lots of work experience/hopefully internships at magazines). It’s crazy that I’m as close to University as I am to year seven. Really, I just plan on staying here as long as you guys keep coming back.
I have a lot planned for this year, including more work experience at DOLLY, a first work experience at Girlfriend, a guest spot on one of my favourite blogs (more about that soon!) , another blogger challenge, and six months in France. Hopefully you stick around for the ride, and keep allowing me to have people who truly care, and hopefully enjoy, about my writing.
You guys are all amazing. Remember you can always contact me by email (address in sidebar), formspring (again, in sidebar) or via comments. I love hearing from you.
